Behaviour is not necessary

Does not have to
Used to say a particular behaviour is not necessary. It is the negative form of 아/어야 되다.
Example
  • 유치원생은 버스 요금을 내지 않아도 돼요.
    Preschool students don't have to pay the bus fare.
  • 평일이니까 영화 표를 미리 사지 않아도 돼요.
    Because it's a weekday, we don't have to buy tickets in advance.

Alternate form

In place of 지 안아도 되다 you can also use 안 아/어도 되다.

  • 금요일에는 정장을 입어도 돼요.
    On Fridays, we don't have to wear suits.
