I studied hard for my exam today and when I was done, it turned out to be 2 in the morning.

My grandma's hometown hadn't changed at all.
This grammar point is mainly used in the spoken language, but not as commonly as '-더라' or '-더라고(요)'.
It often gets confused with '-대(요)' (see V+(는/ㄴ)다고).
